What materials do you need for the basil salt?
You only need a handful of materials to make this basil salt. They are…
- A small food processor- I love the one pictured above because it is also an immersion blender with a whisk attachment. One appliance with many uses!

How do you make this basil salt?
- Start by washing and drying the basil (make sure it is very dry or it will take much longer to dry out the salt.)
- Combine the basil and the coarse salt in the food processor and pulse to combine.
- Add the fine ground salt and pulse to incorporate, scraping the sides to make sure everything gets included.
- When it is fully combined, spread it out over a baking tray lined with parchment paper and allow it to air dry for 24 hours or until the basil is very dried out. The colour will turn to a pale green.
- Transfer to a small mason jar, seal it up and add the baking tag. Your basil salt is now ready to gift or enjoy!

Bright & Delicious Basil Salt

minutesThis basil salt is the perfect way to use up extra basil from the garden and add a pop of bright flavours into your dishes.
Ingredients
1/8 cup fresh basil
1/8 cup coarse ground salt
1/3 cup fine ground salt
Directions
- Wash and dry the basil. You do not want extra moisture as it will take the salt longer to dry.
- Combine the coarse salt and the dry basil in a small food processor and pulse to combine. You want it to grind into fine salt and the basil to blend down fully.
- Add the fine ground salt and pulse to combine. You will want to scrape down the edges to make sure everything is incorporated.
- Spread the basil salt out on a parchment lined baking sheet and allow it to air dry for 24 hours, or until the basil has dried fully.
- Place it into an airtight container such as a mason jar, add the baking tag and store it until you are ready to use it.

Notes
- Feel free to choose whatever salt you want when making this recipe. Celtic, Himalayan, sea salt or even table salt all work well. For the coarse salt I tend to use pickling salt but use what you have on hand!
