Is there anything better than freshly cooked food that is perfectly seasoned? This seasoning salt recipe is exactly that. It is flavourful and balanced, adding the right amount of flavour to a variety of foods.
The best part of this seasoning salt recipe is of course, the flavour, but secondly it is the ability to customize it. If you want a slightly spicy salt you can add a bit of chili flakes or cayenne pepper. If you want to lower the salt content, you totally can. You are in control!
Seasoning salt is surprisingly easy to make and contains only a few pantry staples. You probably have all of the ingredients in your pantry already! It is just a matter of the right proportions and ingredients.
This post will show you how to make the best seasoning salt recipe! It took a bit of experimenting but I can confidently say this recipe is far better than any store bought varieties!
This post is all about a seasoning salt recipe
What can I do with seasoning salt?
Of course, seasoning salt can be used to flavour just about any dish, but here are a few of my favourite ways.
Popcorn: This is probably my number one way to use this seasoning salt. It adds a zing of flavour with a whisper of sweetness. I air pop my popcorn, add some butter and then a sprinkle of this salt and it is ADDICTING!
Fresh vegetables: I will cut up some carrots, cucumber, bell pepper or whatever veggies I have on hand and add a sprinkle of this salt over the top. It was so good, my kiddos devoured the veggies in no time flat!
Eggs: Perfect on a sunny side up egg, scrambled, or an omelette, this seasoned salt recipe tastes amazing on any of them.
Garlic mayo: I will make another post about this garlic mayo recipe as everyone who tries it, asks for the recipe. The secret ingredient is this seasoning salt!
What are the ingredients in this salt recipe?
Salt– Of course! It wouldn’t be a seasoning salt without it. You can use whatever fine ground variety you have. I usually have pink Himalayan on hand so I use that.
Garlic & Onion powder– this adds a lot of flavour. Garlic and onion are the staples of flavourful cooking!
Paprika– For the colour and the smoky under notes!
Turmeric– This adds a touch of colour and a hint of flavour!
Sugar– This is the secret ingredient. You can leave it out but I think it adds the best hint of sweetness. You can barely notice it but it enhances the flavour a lot!
How to make the seasoned salt
Combine all of the ingredients into a small mason jar or whatever container you would like to use. You could also repurpose and old seasoning salt shaker container from the store! We are all about reusing and recycling where we can.
If you want to scale this recipe up, you totally can! Just double, triple or 10x the recipe (10x feels like a lot but I am not judging you! This recipe is GOOD.)
2 Tbsp Fine Ground Salt (I used Himalayan)
I always use 125 ml mason jars to keep everything organized and looking similar and then I add some baking tags. I will add a link to the baking tags I use down below. They are so handy as you can keep the recipe front of mind without having to constantly refer back. I also find these (and all of my baking mixes) are perfect for gifting!
Our friend just had a baby so I will definitely be bringing some of these recipes to her to enjoy!
