This mix is also perfect to gift to anyone going through a hard time, for birthdays or any other celebration! Seriously, I can’t stop raving about this recipe! Why I make my own brownie mix I started making brownie mix (and 75 other dry mix recipes) when I realized how much time and energy it saved me when I was craving a sweet treat or needed a quick birthday recipe. Opening my pantry and seeing a variety or spice mixes and baking mixes makes me feel so successful and excited to feed my family. If you are in a rut or you just want to start making things from scratch, you will LOVE my pantry staples recipe collection. Check it out here or below! The ingredients you need for the brownies For the dry mix 1 1/4 cup (249 grams) white sugar 3/4 cup (75 grams) cocoa powder 1/2 cup (63 grams) all purpose flour 1 tbsp corn starch 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup chocolate chips The wet ingredients 5 tbsp melted butter 1/3 cup of oil 2 eggs plus one yolk 1 tsp vanilla How to make the dry mix Layer all of the ingredients in a mason jar. I like to do the sugar in 2 layers to make it look even more beautiful! Add the lid and a decorative piece of fabric and ribbon if you’re gifting. Add the baking tag (included in my dry mix ebook.) If you want to store this mix long term, use a mason jar vacuum sealer and an oxygen absorber. How to use brownie mix When you are ready to make the brownies, start by preheating the oven to 325 degrees F and spray an 8×8 (or round) pan with non stick spray. Next, crack 2 eggs and 1 yolk into a bowl and add 1 tsp vanilla, 5 tbsp melted butter and 1/3 cup of oil. Mix well and then add the dry mix. Stir to combine and then pour/ scoop into your greased pan. Bake for 30 minutes (it will be slightly underdone but pull it out anyways) and then let it sit until cool. It is amazing both warm and the next day! Storage and shelf life This mix will store on the shelf for around 6 months before getting a bit stale. If you want to store it longer, you can use a mason jar vacuum sealer or store it in the freezer. Freezing will also kill any weevil eggs. Yuck! Gifting ideas Holiday Treats – Add a festive ribbon, a small ornament, or a sprig of pine for Christmas. Pair with a handwritten tag that includes baking instructions. Teacher or Coworker Gifts – Attach a mini whisk or wooden spoon to the jar with twine. Simple, thoughtful, and useful for the kitchen. Bridal or Baby Shower Favours – Use small mason jars, tie them with pastel ribbons, and include a tag that says “Mix, Bake, Enjoy!” Perfect for a sweet touch to party favours. Care Packages – Include your jar in a care package with a mug, hot chocolate mix, and maybe a small bag of marshmallows for a cozy “baking night” kit. Personalized Touch – Layer ingredients in fun patterns (like chocolate-white-chocolate-chocolate), and write a custom note for a sentimental twist. Themed Gifts – Match the jar’s decorations to a theme: autumn leaves for fall, hearts for Valentine’s Day, or pastel flowers for spring. https://youtu.be/5_Zt5Z26fJo
