What materials do you need for this glass cleaner?
This glass spray requires very little in terms of materials so it is a very cheap and easy recipe!
The first thing you will need is a spray bottle. While I am normally an advocate of using what you have and recycling containers, this is one instance where it is not recommended. Unfortunately, ingredients that are unassuming can combine to form lethal chemicals. I do not want that for you.
I purchased these beautiful amber bottles that come in a pack so I can make this glass cleaner, as well as my all purpose cleaner and linen spray. These bottles are beautiful and look great in the cupboard or counter.
Secondly, you will need a funnel or some method to get the ingredients into the spray bottle. This is optional but highly recommended as it is easy to spill!
Finally, grab yourself a copy of these beautiful labels so you can keep your cleaners organized. They go with Avery label 22807.
The glass cleaner recipe
This recipe works in parts so you can easily scale it up and down to meet your needs. It is best to make this in small batches as it doesn’t store very well. Here are the ratios:
1 part rubbing alcohol (this can be infused- more on that later)
1 part distilled (or heavily filtered water)
1/8 part vinegar
*Optional 20 drops of essential oil
What this looks like in cups…
1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup distilled water
2 Tbsp vinegar
How to make the glass cleaner
This recipe is as simple as combining all of the ingredients into your spray bottle, inverting it gently to mix and then it is ready to use!
If you want to make this glass cleaner smell better, but don’t want to use essential oils, you can infuse your rubbing alcohol. Let’s chat about that now!
How to infuse your glass cleaner
One of the easiest ways to infuse scent into any of your DIY cleaning products is by infusing the alcohol or vinegar in the recipe.
All you have to do is add whatever herb or flower you want to infuse, into your carrier liquid (alcohol, rubbing alcohol or vinegar) and let it sit for 3 weeks, covered in a cool dark place.
