How to Make a Tallow Based Lotion Bar

Do you ever think to yourself “I would love to rub beef fat on my body?” I didn’t until I tried it. Beef tallow has completely changed my life. I know that sounds like an exaggeration but we were struggling so bad with my kiddos skin. They were awake all night itching and in horrible pain from intense patches of eczema. We started using the tallow skincare products I make (shameless plug for my products lol) and within days their skin was almost healed. The best part of the whole thing is how tallow creams and lotions NEVER burn. Here is how to make the best lotion…in bar form.

Ingredients:

1 Part Tallow

1 Part Liquid oil (Olive, Sunflower, Jojoba, Castor)

1/4-1/2 Part Beeswax (if you like a softer bar that glides on and melts quickly, go with 1/4 part beeswax)

For a single bar, I would go with 1/2 cup (125 grams) both tallow and liquid oils and 1/8-1/4 cup (31-62.5 grams) of beeswax.

Step 1: Start with rendered tallow. If you do not know how to do this, click HERE to learn how.

Step 2: Grate the beeswax and weigh it out. Add liquid oils to your beeswax.

Step 3: Measure of weigh out the tallow and add it to the bowl.

Step 4: Melt all of the ingredients in a double boiler until completely melted. You can add essential oils here if you want (10-15 drops should be plenty) and then pour it into a silicone mold.

Step 5: Allow the bar to cool and harden and then it is ready to use!
