3 EASY Ways to Eat Healthy While Dining Out as a Busy Mom

There you sit… in the chaos of it all, scrambling to figure out what to eat. You rarely go out, (partially because of covid) but partially because it is so. much. work.

You fight with yourself deciding if you should eat the salad or the burger. The kids are hangry. The partner is hangry and you. are. stressed.

“Oh screw it”… you think to yourself, as you order the burger with extra fries… “I’ll start tomorrow.”

If this sounds like you, you are NOT alone. We are so busy caring for everyone else, that we forget about ourselves.

Here are 3 EASY ways to stay on track.

   1. Figure out what to eat BEFORE you get there.

I know this sounds like extra work, and it is… sort of, but we RARELY make our best decisions when we are in the thick of it or hungry (and I KNOW you’re hungry… I see you Mom.)

Take the guesswork out and look up the menu, deciding what will fuel you and keep you on track, when you have a second of calm, before you leave.

   2. Open the menu, ONLY to help your kids figure out what they want.

Do NOT I repeat, do NOT, look at all of the delicious food you have chosen not to enjoy tonight. Notice I said chosen? More on this later…

   3. Ask for a take out box immediately.

Then pack up half of your food. When you have eaten the rest of it, you can decide if you are still hungry and need to eat the rest.

Sometimes, out of site is out of mind. Restaurant portions are generally on the larger side anyways.

BONUS TIP: Enjoy whatever you want to eat, GUILT FREE.

You don’t have to eat salad for the rest of your life. Healthy living is all about balance. Weighing what is important to you in the moment.

If you decide to eat the burger, I want you to do it GUILT FREE and ENJOY every bite.
